San Francisco

Locus Esti Education in San Francisco currently offers two tiers of Leather and BDSM education: Foundations and Leather Quest, with the express intention of moving the ever-eager and curious individual from discovery to practice to well-rounded and experienced practitioner.  Through traditional, time-honored, historical “earned” training/education and development, achieved by the direct passing of experiences, wisdom, information, and knowledge from one generation to the next, we offer more than just a “generalized” form of education. We are believers and practitioners of tradition, protocol, etiquette, and history as passed to us by those who have traveled the path before us.

Foundations is a “101” level series of weekly classes to established students, graduates, and sponsored students. Topics cover a wide variety of basic technical and safety skill development and application with the intention of providing introductory level instruction on developing interest into skill within the boundaries of what is safe, sane, and consensual.  We also cover what is considered Risk Aware Consensual Kink. Leather Quest, formerly known as the Journeyman III Academy, is the pinnacle of the educational system that offers advanced and graduate level coursework spanning 18 months and is intended to ultimately challenge individual growth on physical, mental, emotional, psychological, sociological, cultural, and spiritual levels. Here is where theory and practical skill and knowledge combine with the spirit, testing individual formidability and foundation, challenging growth and pushing individuals well outside of their comfort zone. Areas explored include Group Dynamics/Instruction;  Interpersonal / Role-Based Communication and Relationship Dynamics; Spirituality/Mysticism; Self-Work; Structure; Self-Discipline and Organization; Leather History (to include traditions, values, and the evolution of spirituality within Leather)/Leather Care/Leather Protocol (Includes Bootblacking); Event planning, Organization and Management; Pyscho-Social work geared to self realization and actualization, mentorship and mentoring others; Teaching/ Facilitating/ Advocating; Accountability/Responsibility; Fundraising; and Community Outreach.
